James Tandias - Letter to Editor

On Tuesday evening, Jan. 17, I attended a Town of Peshtigo meeting where the persistent problem of PFAS contamination in the town was discussed. The recent discovery by an independent study from the University of Wisconsin of a large plume reportedly several kilometers wide appears to confirm that the extent of the affected area is much larger than has been delineated by the currently drawn boundaries. It is important that more detailed investigation and sampling are needed. It would be very sad and unfair to propose and accept limited and expedient solutions that ignore the welfare of others outside the current proposed boundaries. With the impending election of the Town of Peshtigo supervisors and chairman on April 4, 2023, our citizens are entitled to know of the candidates opinions and proposals to try to solve this problem with more transparency and hopefully without private deals between the negotiators and their legal representatives. I would suggest that the candidates present their views online or in the local newspapers.
