Irving J. John

Irving Joseph John, 78, of Marinette, Wi., passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay after a brief battle with lung cancer, with his wife of 45 years at his side.

Born April 14,1944 in Green Bay, to the late Irving P. and Leona A. (Bowman) John, he was then fostered and raised in Grover by his parents, Robert and Emma (Kopplin) Gartzke. He had many fond memories of growing up on the farm in Grover and loved to tell of his adventures.

From 1965 - 1973 he was married to Lydia B.(Hoffman) and on April 15, 1977, he married Carol A. John (Micheals) and they raised a family in Marinette.

A generous person, he loved helping others in any way he could, never hesitated to give of his time, resources, skills and abilities to anyone in need, he gave joyfully and put others needs above his own.

He enjoyed tinkering in the yard, always had a project in progress, enjoyed yard work whether his, a neighbors, the Church nearby or across town. He loved making a difference for other people and was a true model of hard work. He also enjoyed playing cards and horseshoes.

Survivors include his wife, Carol (Micheals); a daughter, Brenda John of Oneida; a son, John (Amanda) John of Marinette; a daughter, Carrie (Nathan) Williams of Pound and a special son by love and choice, Michael Lyons of Marinette. 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many sisters and brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, Jan. 9 at Calvary Church, W1498 WI-64, Marinette with a service starting at 10 a.m., followed by a meal.
