Home and Community Education group holds work day
The Home and Community Education group held their annual forestry work day on Saturday, Sept. 9 at their forest on Hwy 141 just south of Pembine, trimming branches, cutting down dead trees or trees that couldn’t survive to maturity and made brush piles for animal habitat. The first Homemakers of Marinette County planted the trees by hand in the early 1930s up to the late 1950s. Their hard work back then is finally come to realization. About three years ago, the group harvested some trees and look forward to more in the future.
