Hold Memorial Day Services

Members of the Peshtigo VFW post held memorial services at Riverside Cemetery in Peshtigo on Monday, May 29 with approximately 100 people in attendance. Commander Tony Matecki acted as emcee for the program which started at 11 a.m. Commander Matecki gave a short prayer and introduction. Marine Corps veteran Russ Martin and Ladies Auxiliary member Sue Matecki read names of veterans from Marinette County who served and some now passed away. Navy veteran Dennis Czapiewski supplied the sound system and played patriotic music during the ceremony. A special part of the ceremony included Veterans Dennis Czapiewski, Wendy Strutz and Clifford Klimek demonstrating the proper way to fold the American Flag as Commander Matecki read the step by step instructions. Couvillion was stationed in the Pacific and fought in the battle of Okinawa in 1945.
