Herbert A. Fischer

Heaven made its first-round draft pick today, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Herbert A. Fischer, and they know what they’re getting: the best. 

Herbie was born on October 9, 1937, to the late Adolph and Elda (Wesner) Fischer. Herbie graduated from Suring High School with the class of 1956. He served with the Wisconsin Army National Guard 32nd Infantry Division from 1961 to 1962 during the Berlin Crisis. On June 15, 1968, Herbie married Judy Pasek at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coleman. Herbie farmed and worked at Suring Milling Co. and Graetz Manufacturing Co. He served on the Bagley Town Board and worked at the recycling center. 

In 2011, he was awarded the Town of Bagley Senior Citizens Award and served as the Parade Grand Marshal. Herbie was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Suring, serving on the Church Board, Cemetery Board, and as Head Usher.

He was an avid country and polka music lover. Herbie enjoyed attending the Porterfield Country Music Festival with his brothers. He was also an avid sports fan, supporting the Packers, Brewers, Suring Eagles and whatever team his grandchildren were playing on. Herbie was a devoted grandfather who loved spending any time he could with his grandchildren.

Herbie is survived by his two daughters, Connie (Dean) Hinther and Christine (Ryan) Haulotte; two sons, Mark “Briton” Fischer and Michael Fischer; grandchildren, Peyton (fiancée Kayla) Fischer, Easton Fischer, Paige Fischer, Jacob Hinther, Madelyn Hinther, Landon Haulotte, Logan Haulotte, and Alivia Haulotte; a brother, Arlen Fischer and brother-in-law, Norbert Skarban. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; brother, Kenneth Fischer and a sister, Darlene Skarban.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Mount Olive Lutheran Church from 9 am until the funeral service at 11 am with Pastor Michael Paholke officiating, followed by Military Honors.
