Healing Patriots Fundraiser Feb. 3 and 4 at Equity Hall

Multiple guns, an Ariens snowblower, 50-inch TV, and an ice shanty are just a few of the many prizes available at the Healing Patriots Fundraiser. Healing Patriots, a 501(c)(3), will be holding their annual fundraiser on Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4th.  On Friday, Feb. 3rd, the bucket raffle opens at 4 pm at Equity Hall located on Highway 64 in Pound.  Additionally, doors open Saturday, Feb. 4th starting at 11 a.m. for the bucket raffle, card raffle, and 50-25-25 raffle being held with all proceeds going directly to Healing Patriots.  Bucket raffle drawing will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4th.  Food will also be available for a goodwill donation.

In 2015, a small group of military veterans joined together to take a fishing trip to Ontario to catch a prize-winning fish.  As they continued to gather their gear to go, one of the veterans began to develop extreme anxiety – the thought of leaving his friends and family back home reminded him of the day he deployed and all that came with it.  It was at this point, his fellow vets knew their friend needed more love and support.  The fishing trip turned into more than fishing – it was an opportunity for healing from trauma and PTSD.  It was the safe space with fellow veterans where talking openly was welcomed and encouraged.  His fellow servants provided the extra love and support their buddy needed because they too went through traumatic experiences.  It was here the Healing Patriots was born.  This group of military vets vowed from that week forward to help fellow veterans and first responders – EMTs, police, fire, doctors, and nurses – by inviting them to this same place for the opportunity to heal from the memories of trauma and PTSD that they live with every day.

We all know one.  In small communities like ours, we all know men and women who raised their hand and swore the oath to protect our country or one who is willing to respond on a moment's notice to an emergency call.  What we do not know is how the aftermath of their unflinching action to protect and save affects them unless we have walked in their shoes.  It is through fundraising events like this that allow our friends and neighbors who are veterans and first responders to be able to participate in the healing from their trauma and PTSD they may need.

If wanting to sponsor or donate a bucket for the raffle to the event, please call Eugene Frank at 715-923-1168.
