Germaine M. Howarth

Germaine M. (Homa) Howarth, 96, of Marinette, passed away Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021 at the Luther Home. 

Born Jan. 28, 1925 in Marinette, to Antone and Rose Homa, she was a lifelong Marinette resident and graduated in 1942 from Our Lady of Lourdes High School, now Marinette Catholic Central. She married Richard J. Howarth on Sept. 18, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church. Trained as a beautician, she operated her own salon, The Beauty Room, on Main St. for many years, worked as a beautician at the Hotel Marinette and later operated a salon from her home. 

A devout Catholic, she was devoted to the music of the Church and sang in the Choir at St. Joseph Church for many years. She also sang in community choirs and was a longtime member of the M & M Singers on the UW-Marinette Campus. In later years she resided at Northland Village before moving to the Luther Home. 

She is survived by three sons, Jeff (Lynn) of Menominee, Matt (Holly) of Wausaukee and Aaron (Shana) of Middle Inlet; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2008; two infant sons, Thomas Christopher and Mark Edmund and all of her brothers and sisters in the Homa family. 

A family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Wausaukee in Spring. Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home of Marinette is assisting the family.
