Frederick Schneider

Frederick “Fritz” “Fred” Schneider, 83, of Athelstane, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2022 at Aurora Medical Center, Bay Area.

Born June 4, 1939 in Stockbridge, to the late Jacob and Veronica (Schmidt) Schneider, he joined the United States Air Force achieving the rank of Master Sergeant. He then married his wife Christine on July 11, 1981.

He served as Vice-Commander for the American Legion Post 150, was past Town of Athelstane Chairman for two terms and past President and founder of Near North Trail Riders.

He also assisted for many years at the Food Pantry in Townsend and at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. He also was a caretaker for Marinette County Parks for 18 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Christine; three children, Thomas Schneider, Carra (Shawn) Hyde and Jennifer (Upton) Howard; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Clarence.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters, Leo, Eugene, Elsie, Lorraine, Alvin, Arlene, William, Harold, Gordon, Gerald and Kathleen and a daughter-in-law, Sue.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 30 at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lakewood from 9:30 a.m. until time a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with Fr. Praveen Pamisetti officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Home Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post #66. Roubal Funeral Home of Wausaukee is assisting the family with arrangements.
