Francis H. Kmiecik

Francis Henry Kmiecik, 93, passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side, on January 25, 2023, at Aurora Baycare Medical Center in Marinette.

He was born Nov. 4, 1929 to the late Theodore and Phyllis (Pogrant) Kmiecik in the Town of Grover. He attended school in the Peshtigo area, and spent many hours working on the family farm.

Francis married the former Joyce Lusardi on July 4, 1959, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Marinette. Together they raised their six children in the house Francis built himself on County Road B in Marinette.

Francis enjoyed a long employment as a truck driver with Fairway Foods (the former Carpenter Cook) and retired in 1991.

Following retirement, he spent time gardening, and took pride in keeping an immaculate lawn, and did so even at the age of 92. He enjoyed tinkering with antique engines or fixing lawn mowers and snow blowers. He also kept busy going to antique car and steam engine shows and swap meets with his sons.

Francis was a faithful member of Holy Family Parish. He was a very kind, loving, caring man, and would do anything for you. He will be missed by family and friends.

Surviving Francis, is his wife of over 63 years, Joyce; four sons; Randolph (Caroline), of Menominee, Ronald (Lisa), of Oregon, Gary (Lori) of Marinette, and James (Vicki) of Peshtigo; one daughter, Lori Philipps of Marinette, and one daughter-in-law, Marcy (James) Fazer of Menominee. Grandchildren: Christen (Jeff) Peck, Janine Kmiecik, Amy (Michael) Fleming, Brian Kmiecik, Grace (Brandon) Przewrocki, Clayton (Brandy) Kmiecik, Casey Kmiecik, Jamie (Brent) Pelishek, Brady Kmiecik, Kymberly (Sean) Rabbie, Kevin (Vicki) Kopish, Ryan (Alexandra) Philipps, Jeremiah Philipps, Daniel (Melanie) Kmiecik, and Stephanie (Nick) Brunette. Francis is further survived by 23 great-grandchildren; Sisters-in-law, Betty Kmiecik and Patricia Freeman; Brother-in-law, Leroy Lusardi and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Francis was preceded in death by: his Parents; two brothers, Russell and Jerome, and son John.

Visitation will be held at Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home in Peshtigo on Saturday, February 4 at 12pm until the time of service at 1pm with Father John Harper officiating.  Burial date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Pancreas Foundation, 3 Bethesda Metro Center, Suite #700, Bethesda, MD 20814, in honor of his grandson, Ryan Philipps and great-granddaughter, Allyson Rabbie, who both suffer from hereditary pancreatitis.
