Flora “Dixie” Mae Anderla
Flora “Dixie” Mae Anderla, 97, of Menominee, MI passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born in Menominee on January 27, 1926 to the late Ray and Anne (LaSelle) Hebert. Dixie married Edward Anderla on July 11, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 4, 1981.
She was a homemaker but also will be remembered for her wedding cakes and Christmas cookies. She always said “I made the cake” and throughout the years, her kids would meet friends of friends that would say, your mom made our wedding cake.
Dixie cherished spending time with her family and prided herself to be the mother of the “5 G’s” Gary, Gloria, Glen, Gene, and Gail. When not baking and decorating wedding cakes and cookies she liked to play cards, bingo, and going to Apple Jack’s with friends for good food
and a pitcher of beer.
Dixie is survived by her four children, Gary (Laurie) Anderla, Gloria (Rob) Harris, Gene (Cheryl) Anderla, and Gail (Matt) Schick, her daughter-in-law Pam Anderla, 16 grandchildren, Chad (Phoebe), Danielle (Adam), Brandon, Holly (Eric), Robbie (Korina), Dennis “Peeps” (Lisa), Jacob, Melissa, Carrie (Todd), Gina (William), Madelyn, Mackenzie, Katie, Kelsey, and Carah, 18 great-grandchildren, Pierce, Camden, Carter, Shea, Trevor, Delaney, Tanner, Eiden, Tucker, Liam, Hannah, Jocelyn, Keegan, Jaxson, Chad (Kristine), Trey, Lochlan, and Elia; 2 great-great- grandchildren, Ezra and Leo, her sister-in-law Marilyn Hebert and other family and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband Edward, Dixie was preceded in death by her son Glen, her grandson Bryant Schick, two sisters, Muriel Becker and Babe Theis, and one brother John Hebert.
Visitation for Dixie was held at the Cadieu Funeral Home on Friday, November 10, 2023 from 5pm until 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, for the repose of the soul of Flora “Dixie” Mae Anderla at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 9am with Fr. Abraham Mupparathara presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee.
Dixie’s family would like to let everyone know there will be a “Celebration of Life” at Gloria’s house at a future date to be announced. Dixie was the last of the generation of Anderla’s. She always talked of making it to 100 years old.
