Fire Destroys Town Of Pound Residence

A home in the Town of Pound was destroyed by fire Wednesday May 17. Coleman Fire Chief Tom Behnke reported that his department received the call for a structure fire at 1:45 p.m. to the Melody Rodriguez residence on South 7th Road in the Town of Pound.

Chief Behnke stated that when Coleman Fire arrived on scene and saw the flames he immediately went to a MABAS box alarm which brought in additional units from Pound Fire Department, Grover-Porterfield, Lena, Little River and Town of Lake. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under  investigation by the Coleman Fire Department. Damage is estimated at over $150,000 according to Chief Behnke. Coleman Rescue Squad also responded to the blaze. Firefighters remained on scene for over three hours.
