Fire Badly Damages Garage At George Litts Residence

A garage and contents were heavily damaged by fire on Wednesday, March, 15 at the George Litts residence N1513 Harbor Road in the Town of Peshtigo. The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department responded to the call at 5:39 p.m. Fire Chief Mike Folgert reported that upon arrival the garage was found to be heavily involved in fire so Folgert called for a MABAS working still alarm which brought in assistance for the City of Peshtigo Fire Department.

The inside of the garage contained a large number of automotive parts, shop tools, compressed gas cylinders, flammable liquids and a classic auto that burned making fire suppression difficult. Much of the metal wall area panels where the fire is believed to have started had to be peeled away to get at the fire. No injuries were reported and the Town of Peshtigo Fire Department remained on scene until 8:42 p.m. according to Chief Folgert. Cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Town of Peshtigo fire Department.

Other agencies responding included deputies from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department, Aurora Bay Area Paramedics, Marinette Emergency Rescue Squad and Marinette County Dispatchers.
