Dorothy J. Sickels

Dorothy (Dottie) June (Benn) Sickels , 89, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021. 

Born June 26, 1932, to the late Otto and Clara (Kressen) Benn in Milwaukee, where she was raised alongside her brother, Lawrence, she graduated from Rufus King High School in 1950 where she met and later married Donald Sickels on May 16, 1953 in Milwaukee. They raised three children and she sang with the Milwaukee Choristers. 

They moved to Wallace, Mi. in 1977 where they were members of Community Lutheran Church in McAllister and she had an unwavering faith in all that awaits beyond this earthly world. 

She was involved with Leader Dogs for the Blind and a local Homemaker’s group. She loved singing, crafting, scrapbooking, gardening, traveling and dry gin martinis. 

Survivors include her husband, Don; three children, Donna (John) Ovans of Crivitz, Cheryl (Gary) Cadieu of Menominee and Gary (Elizabeth) Sickels of Wallace; a sister-in-law, Elaine (Ed) Benn of Tucson, Az.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

Including her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Larry; a grandson, Danny and brothers- and sisters-in-law. 

Private family services were held with burial in Mellen Township Cemetery. Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson assisted the family. Online condolences can be expressed at www.andersondiehm.com
