GILLETT – The Lady Cougars opened the scoring spigot in the second inning on Thursday, May 9 against the Hornets and they didn’t bother turning it off until the dust settled at the end of five innings and a 15-1 win that wrapped up the M&O Conference title for the Coleman squad. The title marks the 8th straight earned by LeVash’s Cougar’s. The softball program in Coleman earned its first ever title back in 2017 and has never looked back, going on an eight year tear, stacking up conference championship trophies.

Madelyn Straub had an outstanding game at the plate for Coleman, going 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs. Alyssa Kurth had two RBIs to go along with one each from Hope Forner,  Norah Kinziger, Macy Nowak and Hailey Ermis.

Coleman starter Courteny DenRuyter was once again lights-out from the mound, striking out 13 over seven innings pitched, giving up just one hit for one run.

“I am very proud of this program and what we have been able to accomplish over the years,” said Coleman head coach Jean LeVash. “Securing another Conference title this year was so gratifying.  It was great to see the players getting rewarded for the hard work they have put in.  Every year is a different year and one is never guaranteed anything no matter how talented you may be. Over my 14 years coaching every title and every team has been special in their own way.  Winning never gets old!”
