Coleman High School Announces Valedictorians and Salutatorian

Coleman High School has named their two valedictorians and salutatorian for the Class of 2023. Valedictorians are Sylvia Fochesato and Trent Mongin, and Breana Hanrahan is Salutatorian.

Sylvia Fochesato-Valedictorian is the daughter of Michael and Heather (Risner) Fochesato. She has been attending Coleman High School since freshman year after moving to Wisconsin from Gypsum, Colorado. Sylvia has been involved in FBLA as the club's president as well as a 2023 state qualifier, student council president, the NHS secretary, and the Healthy youth coalition chair. She has also been active in athletics playing 4 years of varsity volleyball, where she received M&O Conference Honorable mention. She played 2 years of basketball, as well as track and field, she currently holds the school record in the 100-meter hurdles and was a 2022 state medalist in the 300-meter hurdles. Additionally, she founded the Coleman Cougar Clothing Closet where the program earned a $750 grant. Sylvia has taken 6 AP and 3 dual credit courses in her high school career.  After graduation, Sylvia is committed to run track and field for Division 2, Northern Michigan University where she intends to major in neuroscience and minor in Spanish.  In her free time, Sylvia enjoys skiing, snowboarding, traveling, reading, as well as and spending time with her family.

Trent Mongin-Valedictorian is the son of James and Lisa (Longsine) Mongin. He has attended the Coleman School District since he was four years old. He has lived in Coleman his entire life. Trent has been involved in many clubs, including FBLA where he participated in the Sports Marketing category, NHS where he was the Vice-President, and FFA for a year where he participated in a Career Development Event and helped with some community service. He has also been very active in athletics, participating for four years in football, basketball, and baseball. He won a state runner-up title his junior year with his football team and also won a state runner-up title with his baseball team his sophomore year. He also won two second-team all-conference awards for football and was elected to the WFCA all-academic team. Academically, Trent has taken 8 dual-credit courses throughout high school. Trent Plans to attend Fox Valley Technical College to pursue an associate's degree as a Natural Resources Technician. In his spare time, Trent loves to hunt and fish and spend time with his close family and friends.

Breana Hanrahan-Salutatorian is the daughter of Jason and Tammy Hanrahan. While in high school, she was involved in basketball, volleyball, HI-Q, National Honor Society-President, Student Council-Vice President, Healthy Youth Coalition-Vice President, and Future Business Leaders of America. While competing in high school sports, one of Bre’s favorite memories was being part of the basketball team who won the M&O conference staying undefeated in both her Junior and Senior years. She completed seven dual credit courses and 1 AP course, receiving level 3 Academic Recognition Honors while highly involved in extracurricular activities. Bre will attend Concordia University-Wisconsin, where she plans to complete a dual Doctor of Pharmacy and Entrepreneurship degree. Throughout her years at Coleman High School, she has enjoyed participating in many activities and attending all the sporting events with her friends. She also volunteered whenever possible and loved giving back to the community that supported her in every way possible. In her free time, she spent it with her family and friends, boating, fishing, baking, and shopping. Bre cannot wait to see what the future holds.
