Coleman Extends M&O Conference Lead

Undefeated in Win 

Over Oneida Nation

Coleman picked up a big win over Oneida Nation on Monday to continue its undefeated M&O Conference run.

Four Cougars scored in double figures in a 62-35 win. Aubrey Bintz scored 14, Kiersten Jensen got 12, Cameron Zeitler scored 11, and Desiree Nowak added 10.

For Oneida Nation, Jaylyn Caldwell scored 16 points and Abby House scored 13. 

The Thunderhawks were missing leading scorer G’oni Thayer, who averages nearly 12 points per game, in the contest. Last time the two teams met at full strength was Dec. 6, with Coleman getting a 64-39 win.

Monday’s win kept Coleman undefeated in conference play. The Cougars are 13-3 overall with a 10-0 M&O record.

 

Coleman Girls 

Survive Tough Match 

Against Niagara

Coleman was victorious over Niagara for the second time this season on Thursday, picking up a 40-30 road win.

The Cougars shot 13-50 from the field as a team and made 11 of their 19 free throw attempts.

Aubrey Bintz scored 11, Cameron Zeitler scored 10 and Desiree Nowak got nine.

Jenna Styczynski and Kiersten Jensen each added five points.

Nowak led the team with 13 rebounds, while Bintz had a team-high six assists and four steals to go with six rebounds.

Niagara’s Mallory Sanicki and Josie Rock each scored 10 points in the defeat.

 

Oconto Continues Win 

Streak with  71-56 Win 

Over Southern Door

A big first half pushed Oconto to a 71-56 win over Southern Door on Thursday.

By halftime, Oconto led Southern Door 41-23. Southern Door’s offensive and defensive totals improved in the second half, but not enough to overcome the Blue Devils’ 18-point advantage.

Oconto shot 26-60 from the field and made 14 of 24 free throws. 

Addisyn Viestenz was 6-10 on field goals (8-9 FT, 3-4 3PT) to score 23 points. She had five rebounds and three assists as well.

Kyanne Wusterbarth was 6-10 for 12 points with five rebounds and four assists.

Lianna Baxter scored 16 points on 7-18 shooting. She led the team with eight rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

Grace Simon scored six, Leah Allan had six points, and Hannah Moe had six.

Southern Door’s leading scorers were Paige Olson and Ashyln Delfosse, who scored 11 points apiece.

 

Tiger Girls Defeat 

Wausaukee Behind 

Herzog’s 20

Alaina Herzog scored 20 points to lead the Gillett Tigers past Wausaukee on Thursday.

Herzog made nine of her 16 shot attempts and two of her four free throws in the game. Carleigh Kaczmarek (2-6 FG, 3-5 FT) added 13 and Laney DeBauch (2-6 FG, 6-8 FT) scored 10. Cheyenne Krueger chipped in one bucket.

Wausaukee is still seeking its first M&O Conference win of the season, while Gillett hasn’t lost a conference game since a Dec. 14 defeat at Coleman.

 

Strong 2nd Half Gives

Suring Win Over Lena

Suring pulled away from Lena in the second half of Monday’s M&O Conference matchup, winning 63-48.

The Eagles led by just a point at halftime, 27-26, but ran off to a 36-22 second-half advantage.

Christine Sleeter led the Eagles with 25 points. She made nine of 19 field goals in the game and seven of eight free throws, also securing a whopping 17 rebounds and leading the team with five steals.

Bunny Cramer scored 12 points, Kate Mahoney had nine, and MacKenzie Bailey scored six.

Mahoney was Suring’s team leader with six assists.

 

Peshtigo Narrowly

Defeats Sevastopol 39-34

Peshtigo snuck past Sevastopol 39-34 in overtime on the road Thursday night.

Neither team put up big offensive numbers on the night, but Peshtigo’s Sydney Lund did manage to tally 19 points in the win.

Sharp-shooting guard Emma Gilligan scored 11 and Jaci Tonn finished with six.

Tonn scored half of Peshtigo’s 12 points in the second half, with her six points coming on two 3-pointers.

It was Gilligan who scored the majority of Peshtigo’s points in overtime. After the score was tied 31-31 at the end of regulation, Gilligan made a 3-pointer and two of four free throws as the Bulldogs outscored Sevastopol 8-3. She made two 3-point field goals in the first half as well.

Lund scored the other three Peshtigo points in overtime.

 

Panthers Take 

Tough  Loss to FVL

Oconto Falls fell 50-33 at Fox Valley Lutheran on Monday.

Kati Raddatz led the Panthers with 11 points, followed by Ashlynn Allen, Alexis Euclide, and Hailey Peitersen, who each scored six. Grace Oninski added four.

FVL’s Emily Jaenke scored 18 points and Myah Loberger added 10.

Despite the loss, the Panthers have won five of their last eight. Their next five games come against opponents with overall losing records, beginning with Denmark on Thursday.

 

Panthers Nearly 

Double Up  on 

Clintonville in Win

The Oconto Falls defense powered the Panthers past Clintonville by a 42-25 score on Thursday.

The Truckers were 11-37 from the field, and trailed 29-15 at halftime before a low-scoring second half saw the two teams combine for just 23 points.

Oconto Falls also put the Truckers at the free throw line, where they struggled, making just two of 16 tries.

Gracie Poole and Emily Taylor each scored nine for Clintonville.

Oconto Falls’ Ashlynn Allen led all scorers with 15 points. Alexis Euclide scored nine and Kati Raddatz finished with six.

 

Blue Devils Remain 

Perfect With Big Win 

Over Sturgeon Bay

Oconto moved to 17-0 on the season with a dominant 78-35 win over Sturgeon Bay on Monday.

The Blue Devils made 34 of their 63 shots on the night. Lianna Baxter made 11 of her 19 shot attempts for 23 points, also recording team-highs in rebounds (10), assists (5), and steals (5).

Leah Allan made six of nine shots and scored 16 points to go with three rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Hannah Moe scored 12 points on 6-10 shooting with six rebounds.

Addisyn Viestenz scored 10 points (4-8 FG), Kyanne Wusterbarth made four of five shots for nine points, and Gracie Simon scored six.

Oconto will look to keep its undefeated season going on the road Friday against Algoma. The last time the two teams met was on Dec. 9. Oconto came away with a 59-43 win.

 

Badgers Cruise to 

Win Over Wausaukee

Niagara defeated Wausaukee 52-30 on Monday night.

Josie Rock led Niagara with 14 points, while Bailey Pearson and Mallory Sanicki each scored nine. Morgan Borchardt scored eight, Erin Lukowicz got five, and Samantha Oratch finished with four.

Wausaukee got 29 of its 30 points from two scorers, as Rachel Schlies scored 14 and Sparrow Luccarini finished with 15.

 

Marinette Struggles 

to Stop Jaenke in 

59-32 Loss to FVL

Emily Jaenke’s 27 points were the standout in Fox Valley Lutheran’s 59-32 win over Marinette on Thursday.

Jaenke made eight of her 14 shots from the field and seven of eight free throws. She made four 3-pointers, also grabbing six rebounds and adding five steals.

Marinette’s leaders were Riley Kieffer, who scored 15 points on 7-11 shooting, and Hannah Chenier, who was 3-11 for six points. Chenier led the team in rebounding (seven) and tied for the team lead in assists (two).

The loss snapped a two-game Marinette winning streak after the Marines defeated Denmark and Little Chute by double digits last week.

 

Freedom Too Much 

for Marinette

The Marinette Marines were beaten 82-22 by Freedom, the North Eastern Conference’s top team, on Monday.

Sydney Bartels led all scorers with 21 points for Freedom, while Sadie Jarmolowicz added 18, Megan Alexander had 12, and Kierstin Kriewaldt chipped in 11.

It’s the second straight game that Freedom scored 82 points and allowed 22 or less points, as they defeated Denmark 82-20 on Thursday.

Marinette’s leading scorer was Riley Kieffer, who scored 11 points.

The Marines will have a good opportunity to get back on track Thursday when they travel to Waupaca to face off with the 1-15 Comets.

 

Bobcats Slash Patriots

in Blowout Win

Florence defeated Goodman/Pembine 62-13 Monday in Northern Lakes Conference action.

Isabella Millan led all scorers with 31 points, making 11 of 19 field goals, including a 6-11 line from downtown, and a 3-4 tally from the free throw line.

Kamdan Johnson was 5-11 for 13 points and Victoria Johnson made three of five attempts for six points.

Millan and Peterson had six steals apiece. Millan led the team with eight rebounds and two blocks, and Leah Young had a team-high three assists.

 

Lena Comes Back 

in 2nd Half to 

Defeat Crivitz

Lena beat Crivitz 54-46 on Thursday behind 32 combined points from Natalie McNurlen and Evan Brooks, most of it in the second half.

At halftime, Lena trailed 29-21, with Brooks and McNurlen combining for 12 points. The pair came out strong in the second half. McNurlen scored nine of her 17 points, seven on free throws, and Brooks scored 11 of her 15 points, to power Lena to 33 points.

Meanwhile, Crivitz was held to 17 points, with no Wolverine scoring more than four in the period.

Lena also got eight points from Breanna Koslowsky, with all eight in the second half. Chaela Rabas scored eight in the game as well.

The two highest scorers on Crivitz were Nilea Guns and Kate Richlen, who scored eight apiece. Cilena Guns scored six, all in the first half.

 

Lena Fails to Hold Onto 

Lead in Loss to Florence

Florence held Lena to 11 points in the first half of the Bobcats’ 57-43 victory on Friday.

Florence built up a 33-11 lead by the break, but Lena’s offense came alive in the second half, with the Wildcats scoring 32 in the period. It wasn’t enough to overcome Isabella Millan and Florence, however.

Millan scored a game-high 29 points, mostly at the free throw line. Millan was 4-27 from the field, but she got to the line early and often, making 19 of 20 free throws in the ballgame. 

Kamdan Johnson (5-9 FG) and Victoria Johnson (6-10 FG) each scored 12 points and Audrey Selden (2-3 FG) scored four to round out the Bobcat scoring.

For Lena, Eva Brooks, Whitney Potter and Chaela Rabas scored nine points each. Natalie McNurlen scored eight points.
