Bulldogs, Marines and Cougars Run Under the Lights in Neenah

Marinette, Coleman, and Peshtigo competed at the Nightfall Classic at Winagamie Golf Club in Neenah on Friday.
Of 14 Division 2 teams, Peshtigo’s girls were seventh.
Rachel Nelson was 16th of 150 D2 runners with a time of 21 minutes, 3.77 seconds. Holly Pesch took 25th (21:42.61), Alaina Archambault came in 41st (22:39.34), Shayla Boettcher took 49th (23:12.29), and Addisen Olson took 51st (23:24.17).
The Peshtigo boys didn’t qualify for a team score, but senior Andrew Nelson was third of 117 D2 runners with a time of 17 minutes, 37.6 seconds.
Reese Yunke took 24th (19:14.66), Cole Grabian was 48th (20:51.4), and Eli Berndt came in 71st (21:52.48).
“The kids ran tough. We had four PRs and the girls team took seventh out of 14 in the large schools. We are very happy with the results there,” Peshtigo coach Derek Smith said.
It was an interesting atmosphere for Peshtigo, as it was the first time they had run a nighttime race. The course was lit with lights and a DJ played throughout the race.
“The kids were kind of excited and maybe overwhelmed,” Smith said. “Overall it was a fun experience and it was for a good cause. Proceeds of the race were donated to cancer research. We will definitely be participating more in the following years.”
The Marinette girls were 11th of 14 in D2. Addison Lacy took 40th (22:39.15), Madison Kunick took 56th (23:44.75), Julia Cano Hidalgo came in 72nd (24:40.99), Lauren Sadowski was 91st (26:05.34), Karissa Valitchka was 106th (26:48.26), Lacy Carviou came in 112nd (27:28.8), Ava Loomis took 130th (29:27.58), and Peyton Decker was 146th (33:00.98.
Marinette’s boys took 10th of 11 in D2. David Jezowski was 35th (19:52.82), Jackson Draheim took 44th (20:15.87), Hunter Schneider was 70th (21:47.56), Dylan Demmith placed 80th (22:23.67), Evan Reines took 87th (22:39.19), Aidan Anderson was 91st (22:54.8), Aaron Peterson was 111th (26:36.19), and Rodney Hollar came in 114th (27:44.19).
Coleman’s boys were seventh of seven in Division 3.
John Nowak took 14th of 69 runners (19:17.23), Conner Markiewicz was 20th (19:55.92), Chase Gruber took 29th (20:38.17), Jake Cullinane-Maleport took 57th (23:45.76), and Wyatt Van Haren was 59th (23:52.73).
The Coleman girls didn’t qualify for a team score. Kiersten Jensen took 43rd (24:59.03), Clare Gappa took 61st (27:23.68), GraceLynn Nowak came in 62nd (27:47.07), and Aliza Jensen finished 66th (29:13.56).

Showing in Shawano

Oconto Falls, Gillett, and Suring tested their abilities at the Shawano Invitational on Saturday.
The Gillett boys were eighth of 17 teams, paced by a fifth-place finish from senior Alex Peterson. He finished in 15 minutes, 56.6 seconds. There were 133 runners in the race.
Evan Peterson was 12th (16:47.5), Braydin Wendorf took 25th (17:33.1), Nash Stage was 66th (19:00.3), Scott Herroux came in 84th (19:37.1), Chase Anderson took 103rd (20:30.6), Zander Davis was 113th (21:00.7), and Virgil Herzog placed 130th (25:02.5).
The Tigers were the top team of four Division 3 schools at the meet, and Alex Petreson was the fastest of 38 D3 runners. Evan Peterson was third and Wendorf was fifth.
Oconto Falls’ boys took 12th of all 17 teams and fifth of six Division 2 teams.
Ben Adams took 21st overall (17:24.3), Griffin Kopke was 52nd (18:25.8), Evan Yuma placed 76th (19:21.5), Emerson Rice was 81st (19:32.7), Brant Laluzerne took 91st (19:54.1), and Garrett Ganter came in 116th (21:41.5).
The Oconto Falls girls took eighth out of 16 teams and fifth of seven D2 teams. Brooke Hodkiewicz was 30th (21:05) and Hannah Ludemann wasn’t far behind (21:05.2). There were 129 runners in the race.
Hailey Delzer placed 42nd (21:32.9), Maddy Przybylski took 59th (22:20.8), Josie Holtz took 60th (22:21), Mackenzie Lotto was 73rd (22:46.6), Ava Hodkiewicz came in 85th (23:16.3), and Sydney Bell was 88th (23:21.6).
Gillett’s girls took 12th overall. Carleigh Kaczmarek was 16th (20:30.3), Sophia Limberg placed 61st (22:21.3), Cheyenne Krueger placed 90th (23:27.1), Laney Debauch took 93rd (23:38.4), and Lily Hansen was 98th (23:55.7).
The Tiger girls were second of the four D3 teams, with Kaczmarek’s time the best of 30 D3 runners.
Suring was 13th. Olivia Noack took 35th (21:19.4), Georgia Gerndt was 76th (22:55), Hailey Thomson was 106th (24:27.3), Samantha Seibert took 119th (25:31.5), Ginger Gerndt took 120th (25:32.8), Morgan Suring took 121st (25:39.2), and Allyson Seibert finished 122nd (26:43.5).
Noack’s time was good for third among D3 runners in the race.
Area Teams Compete
at Crandon Invitational

Oconto, Crivitz, Florence, and Goodman-Pembine competed at the Crandon Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
Only two teams, Oconto and Crandon, qualified for boys’ team scores. The Blue Devils were the winners, with 11 of the 35 runners in the race coming from Oconto.
Kadin Baxter was sixth (19:50.3), Dominick Baxter took 12th (21:10.3), Bryton Fuller was 13th (22:15.4), Daniel Alwin took 14th (22:16.5), and Jackson Martin came in 15th (22:21).
Goodman-Pembine’s Kody Stahley took fourth in the race with a time of 19:11.2. Teammate Caleb Meissner was eighth (20:19), Tristan Owens took 18th (22:29.4), and Caleb Hesseling took 34th (36:20.8).
Florence had three runners: Seth Axley was 10th (20:47.2), Blake Smith took 11th (21:07.5), and Matt Bousley came in 22nd (23:02.7).
Three girls’ teams qualified for team scores, with Crandon first, Oconto second, and Florence third.
The Blue Devils again had a big team, with 14 varsity runners in the 36-runner race. Elizabeth Finger took 10th (25:21.3), Madilyn Thomson took 17th (28:22.6), Hannah Thomson was 18th (28:31.3), Alex Hyland came in 19th (28:31.3), and June Iza was 23rd (29:54.6).
Florence’s Abbey Tripp took seventh (24:12.3). Fellow Bobcat Ingrid Holt was 16th, Caitlyn Kelley took 21st (29:48.1), Leighton Lambert was 24th (30:48.2), and Rebecca Eller came in 34th (35:00.8).
For Goodman-Pembine, Joley Berger took eighth (25:11.9), Krystal Moddie took 14th (26:25.7), Kenza Stahley came in 20th (29:10), and Aubry Larson was 27th (31:15.6).
