Brian and Andrea Maxwell - Letter to Editor

In a recent Eagle Herald letter to the editor, Town of Peshtigo (ToP) Water Committee member Jeff Lamont claimed his “jaw hit the floor” upon reading Jennifer Friday’s bio and her statement that no one wants to be forced into annexation or off their well, when she is the person who has “threatened” part of the plume with annexation. We have since submitted a response to the Eagle Herald in response to Mr Lamont, but feel your readers also need to be aware. When the ToP board announced their four PFAS solution options, two were not on the list-   the two that JCI/Tyco had announced they would offer to plume residents.  Jennifer took it upon herself to educate residents on the options available. She came to our door and we had a pleasant conversation. We have never been a proponent of annexation, stated this clearly, and it was still a pleasant discussion. We were given complete information on all choices as her goal was to make sure we knew all options available, including those put forth by the ToP board.  Our neighbors report the same, unprejudiced conversations. Jennifer ultimately provided the annexation petition to residents in an area in which there was a notable interest by the RESIDENTS.  She was willing to circulate the petition, that is true, but her personal preferences were not the point of any of the discussions.

Let me share with you what has caused my jaw to hit the floor. The unbelievable mishandling of the election inspector approvals, as this board approved someone who had merely expressed interest without doing the training rather than Jennifer Friday, who had already completed the training.

Why?  Because, as one supervisor put it, “she didn’t like the way Jennifer hassled the board.”  So when a resident doesn’t agree with the board or when a resident makes a request of the board for information, it’s “hassling?”  We aren’t allowed to disagree or offer other possible solutions?  Why isn’t it hassling, or worse, when a board member’s spouse knocks on doors and tells residents blatant lies concerning annexation?  What we get from this board are a record number of closed meetings and half- truths (think of the heralding of the receipt of a 1.6 million-dollar grant without also telling of the $400,000 match required- it took residents bringing this to light for the board to state it- and where is that required match money coming from? Think of the inane claim that the utility district won’t cost residents a dime- who is paying for the lawyers and the engineers, etc., so far?).  This is not leadership, it is certainly not ethical, and it is most definitely not in the best interest of ToP residents.

Jennifer Friday has our vote for ToP Chairperson as do her running mates Clarence Coble and Jimmer Wortner for Supervisors 1 and 2. It is imperative that ALL THREE are elected to make a real positive impact for our Town. We deserve it!
