Arthur L. Gummin

Arthur L. Gummin, 95, the last surviving of the ten children of Adolph and Martha Gummin, passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 14, 2021.

Art was born on his father’s birthday on August 3, 1926. The Gummin Homestead, established in 1908, was a source of pride for Art, especially when it reached century farm status. Art met and married Dorothy Mae Udell with whom he recently celebrated 74 years of marriage.

When the dairy herd was sold, Art established a business as an electrician. During drives in the area after his retirement, he readily pointed out his many customers and the jobs he did for them.

Art had a unique sense of humor, an abiding faith in God, a generous spirit, and a keen penchant for mischief. As a young man, Art loved pheasant hunting and flying. In his golden years he loved playing dominoes and card games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy and his seven children: Beverly (Jim) Rock, Gayle (Dick) Schenkoske, Karline (Kirkby) Roseveare, Randy (Julie) Gummin, Aleta (Jeff) Watton, Brian (Ingrid) Gummin, and Wade (Carren) Gummin. He is further survived by eighteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, his nine brothers and sisters and their spouses.

The family will greet friends and relatives at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Coleman on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 10:00 AM to noon. The service will begin at noon with Pastor Mark Kostreva officiating, followed by interment at the Brazeau Township Cemetery. Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home of Coleman is assisting the family.
