Six Records Set at Girls Swimming & Diving Meet

Arrowhead captured the Division 1 team championship and six records fell at the 2022 State Girls Swimming & Diving Championships at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium Saturday.
The Warhawks compiled 338.5 points to win the program’s 12th championship. Former three-time defending champion Brookfield East finished runner-up with 285.5 points, and the Waukesha West/Catholic Memorial co-op placed third with a score of 196.

For Marinette’s football team, senior Logan Paris was a first-team selection in the Marines’ first Packerland season as well as a honorable mention linebacker.
Paris had 14 total touchdowns this season, with seven on the ground and six receiving touchdowns, as well as one kickoff return for a score. He had 400 yards rushing on 53 attempts and 14 receptions for 294 yards.

Marinette/Peshtigo Swimmers Post PR’s at Div. 2 Sectional

The Marinette/Peshtigo swimming co-op competed in Division 2 sectional competition in Ashwaubenon last week, taking 10th of 13 teams and swimming personal best times across the board.
Mary Mayhew was the team’s top individual finisher, taking second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.27 seconds. She narrowly missed out on state qualification, which is earned by the sectional winners and the next 12 fastest times from across the four sectionals.

Deer Donations Help Wisconsinites in Need

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages hunters to donate Wisconsin-harvested deer to the department’s Deer Donation Program. The program helps stock food pantries for the upcoming holiday season and supports residents in need throughout the state.
Since the program began in 2000, hunters have donated almost 100,000 deer, totaling more than 3.8 million pounds of venison distributed to Wisconsin food pantries.

WIAA Girls Swimming & Diving Championships This Weekend

The 53rd Annual Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Girls Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium.

For four years, the Peterson brothers and Carleigh Kaczmarek have been key contributors to the rise of the Gillett Tigers cross country teams.
The school’s cross country program is waving goodbye to the trio of seniors following last Saturday’s Division 3 State Championship in Wisconsin Rapids, where they gave it one last run as one of the state’s best.

Lena’s dream run to the Division 4 volleyball sectionals ended at the hands of top-seeded Wabeno/Laona on Thursday night.
The fourth-seeded Wildcats hung around in the first set due to some sloppy service by the Rebels, but Wabeno/Laona would end up with a 25-17 win eventually.
“The nerves get the best of you,” Rebels coach Michelle Boor said.
