Last Wednesday, Jan. 11th, I had the misfortune of being one of many hundreds of thousands of people trying to travel by commercial air service. The Federal Aviation Administration had a computer issue, which caused their entire system that alerts pilots to safety issues, to malfunction in the wee hours of the morning. As a result, it was the first time since the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that U.S. airspace was entirely shutdown.
