Community Glue - From My Window

Mike and I recently went to watch the kid’s softball league action on Wednesday evenings near our house.  The tiny community where the games are played is very similar to Harmony, WI; a crossroads where there used to be a dance hall/tavern; a second tavern, a machinery business, a little “general store” and a church.  Like Harmony, most Halder businesses are now gone, and all that remains here is the community center, one bar and a church.

It’s officially Summer at last, and we’re having some beautiful summer weather to prove it. The muggy haze seems to be lifting. Gorgeous days and balmy nights are supposed to continue for at least the next several days.

FATHERS DAY
Noah was a father of three boys (Genesis 6:10), and raised them during a time when corruption was rampant, violence was everywhere, and people had forsaken God (Genesis 6:11-12).  There seemed to be no escape from the catastrophe that was about to occur (Genesis 6:13).  But Noah found grace in the eyes of God (Genesis 6:8).

Today I paused for a moment, looking at a calendar and wondering how in the world can June be half gone already?  I seem to remember that just yesterday we had another irritating late snowstorm, and now find myself in the bloom of summer wondering where spring went, as I seem to have missed most of it.

Isn’t it wonderful? We’re finally getting the rain we so badly needed! Grass will be turning really green again, and crops in gardens and fields will shoot up so fast we can almost see them grow.

It always seems Marinette County needs to save money but does not know how. Government (and schools) simply want the taxpayers to give them more money. The State of Wisconsin giving them more money is really just giving them more of our (taxpayers) money.

I was recently transported to Aurora BayArea Medical Center in Marinette by Wausaukee Rescue Squad. What a fantastic team, including the 2 EMTs and driver! I was treated professionally, respectfully and emphatically. Yes, all 3 people worked as a team from the time I was picked up at my home, until I was safely taken to the hospital. Our small community of Wausaukee is truly blessed to have emergency medical transportation available. Not all small rural communities are as fortunate.

The month of May brought some unseasonably hot and dry weather for TIMESLand. Now that June has arrived temperatures have moderated a bit, but there is still no rain in the forecast, except possibly a little on Friday, and then not again until Monday, when it’s maybe a 50/50 chance. Fire danger remains very high, so be sure not to let any sparks get away from outdoor cooking.
